Wawa, Inc. Sells 10,000+ "Be a HERO" Wristbands to Support Drunk Driving Prevention
Participating Wawa stores from Ocean to Cape May Counties united over this past Memorial Day Weekend to donate over $10,000 to the HERO Campaign
for Designated Drivers® through the sale of “Be a HERO” wristbands. Jim Walz (Wawa Director of Store Operations) and John Morey (Area Manager)
presented the HERO Campaign on behalf of their General Managers with a check for the proceeds at their regional management meeting June 16th.

William and Muriel Elliott of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. have been named the
recipients of the 2004 Citizen Activist Award by the National Commission
Against Drunk Driving (NCADD).
The Elliotts were selected for the prestigious award for their work to
prevent drunken driving tragedies through the HERO Campaign for Designated
Drivers® and the John Elliott Foundation, which they established in memory
of their son, Navy Ensign John Elliott. They received the award recently at
ceremonies held at the historic Army Navy Club in Washington, D.C.

Spreading the word on the Garden State Parkway
Toll booth posters now deliver the message of the Hero Campaign to the
perfect target audience - New Jersey motorists. Thanks to your continued
support, Hero Campaign posters are being seen at toll plazas along all
172 miles of the Garden State Parkway, from Cape May to the New York
Thruway.

Mini-Golf Tournament for Scholarship Fund.
The Hero Campaign’s First John R. Elliott Miniature Golf Tournament was held
recently at Olde Masters Golf Center, Delilah Road, Egg Harbor Township.
The community event raised $2,500 for the John Elliott Scholarship
Program at John’s alma mater Egg Harbor Township High School.
John graduated EHT High as President of his class in 1996.

John's Law II, signed by McGreevey in August, goes a step
further by giving municipalities the power to enact laws
that require authorities to keep a drunk driver in protective
custody for eight hours or until
the driver's blood-alcohol level drops below .05 percent.

New York Giants and Jets football
adopt the Hero Campaign
The
New York Giants and Jets football teams have adopted the Hero
Campaign
for their designated driver program at Meadowlands Stadium in New
Jersey. The program is co-ordinated by ARAMARK Food Services.
Off-duty volunteer police officers staff the booths and distribute
Hero Campaign materials, including free soft drink vouchers for
fans registering to be designated drivers for their friends at the
game.
