Hero Campaign kicks off in Harrisburg
The Hero Campaign kicked off in Harrisburg on Thursday. The new program seeks to prevent crashes and deaths by promoting the use of designated drivers. The Pennsylvania State Police, PennDot, and the liquor control board are teaming up with John Elliott and the Hero Campaign to encourage drivers to be safe.
Bill Elliottt says, “What we do is make having a designated driver be so prevalent and have that message seen in so many places that we move the needle on behavior to the point of having a designated driver is the norm.”
The Hero Campain was started by the family of United States Navy ensign, John Elliott. Elliott was killed by a drunk driver in 2000 while he was driving to his home in New Jersey for his mother’s birthday.
