Pompei Joins HERO Campaign’s Foundation Board

Ocean City, N.J. – The John R. Elliott HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers has announced that Michael Pompei has been appointed to its Foundation Board of Trustees. Pompei is a long-time casino industry human resources leader who has spent his entire career serving as an advocate for managers and employees in southern New Jersey, while coaching and guiding them to success.

“We are excited to have Mike join us as the newest member of our foundation board,” said Bill Elliott, Chairman of the John R. Elliott Foundation. “He is one of our area’s dynamic new leaders, and we are honored to add his energy and dedication to our life-saving mission.”

The HERO Campaign was established by the family of Navy Ensign John Elliott of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, after he was killed in a collision with a drunk driver near Woodstown in July 2000, two months after he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, where he was named the Outstanding HERO of his graduating class.

As the Regional Vice President of Human Resources – Atlantic City Region for Caesars Entertainment, Pompei is responsible for the direction, coordination, and implementation of all major human resources (H.R.) functions at Caesars Atlantic City, Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, and Tropicana Atlantic City.

“I’ve known about the good work of the HERO Campaign for years, so I was pleased when I was given the opportunity to really get involved as a mentor in the John R. Elliott Character & Leadership program at Stockton University,” said Pompei. “I’m looking forward to expanding on that involvement as a foundation board member and help to engage the community in the HERO Campaign’s efforts to encourage the use of designated drivers.”

Pompei began his career at Trump Taj Mahal in 2009 as an H.R. intern. He made his way to Tropicana in 2010 as a human resources generalist, a position he held for four years before moving to H.R. at Atlantic City Linen Supply. In 2018, he returned to Tropicana as Director of Human Resources. Since then, he has been promoted to Regional Director of Human Resources, and to his current position in 2023.

In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees for the HERO Campaign, Pompei volunteers for various charitable organizations in the community and has partnered with the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. In 2018, he accepted the United Way’s Alan Angelo Employee Campaign Chair of the Year Award on behalf of Tropicana for their exceptional campaign. He has volunteered his time to the Boys and Girls Club of AC for their annual Men R’ Cookin’ event in Atlantic City. Pompei also serves on the Atlantic County Workforce Investment Board and the Unite Here Local 54 Training & Education Trust Board.

Pompei received his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in human resources from Cabrini College.
